Auto-Renewal (Recurring Billing) Policy

This policy establishes member-protection and billing-transparency rules for the auto-renewal service of Specnote (specnote.io), operated by Dannect, Inc. Specnote is an AI-based scenario verification and test automation service. We comply with the Korean Financial Services Commission's Subscription Economy Consumer Protection Reinforcement Plan (Nov 18, 2021) and the Standard Credit Card Merchant Terms.

Article 1 — Auto-renewal consent

  1. Members consent to auto-renewal through an explicit form at sign-up to a paid plan.
  2. The following items are disclosed at consent:
    • Payment amount
    • Billing cycle (monthly/yearly)
    • Next billing date
    • Cancellation method
    • Refund policy
  3. Consent is collected via an explicit checkbox, never pre-checked.

Article 2 — Prior notice of billing date

  1. The Company notifies members at least 7 days before each auto-renewal, via email and in-service notification, of:
    • Billing date
    • Amount
    • Payment method (masked card: 1234-****-****-5678)
    • How to cancel
  2. If the price increases, the Company gives separate notice 30 days before the change.

Article 3 — Cancellation (one-click principle)

Complies with the Korean FSC 2021 guideline's "simple cancellation" mandate.

  1. Members can cancel directly at any time by clicking the "Cancel subscription" button at "My Page → Billing."
  2. Cancellation is as simple as sign-up — no calls, no document submission.
  3. Cancellation requests are accepted 24/7, outside business hours included.
  4. Upon request, the next auto-renewal stops immediately. Service for the current paid period remains available until the period ends.

Article 4 — Changing the payment method

  1. Members can change their stored card via "Change card" at "My Page → Billing."
  2. The new card is verified through Toss Payments (domestic Korean) or Paddle (international) and stored as a billing key — the card number itself is never stored by the Company.
  3. The previous billing key is destroyed immediately upon registering a new card.

Article 5 — Failed-payment handling

  1. Upon auto-renewal failure (credit-limit exceeded, expired card, etc.), the subscription status immediately changes to "past due (PAST_DUE)" and the Company notifies the member by email and in-service notification.
  2. During the 7-day grace period after failure, updating the payment method restores the subscription to active status.
  3. If unresolved within the grace period, the paid subscription is automatically canceled and the account reverts to the free plan.

Article 6 — Billing history

Members can verify the following at "My Page → Billing":

  • Date, amount, payment method
  • Receipts (tax invoice issuance available)
  • Refund history
  • Next billing date

Article 7 — Auto-renewal disputes (Korea)

Disputes related to auto-renewal can be mediated by the Korean Financial Supervisory Service's Dispute Mediation Committee (1332) or by the Korea Consumer Agency.
