Refund Policy
This Refund Policy specifies the refund criteria and procedures for the paid services of Specnote (specnote.io), operated by Dannect, Inc. Specnote is an AI-based scenario verification and test automation service that becomes available immediately upon payment, and is a professional tool provided for the business purpose of software development and verification.
Article 1 — Principle: all sales are final
- All paid Specnote services (subscriptions and credit top-ups) are digital services whose provision begins immediately upon payment. All sales are final and are not refundable in principle.
- Refunds are made only where mandatory law requires them (such as the consumer withdrawal right in Article 2), under the criteria set by such law and this policy.
- At checkout, the Company discloses in advance that provision of the service begins immediately upon payment and that the right of withdrawal is restricted once use (credit consumption) begins, pursuant to Article 17 (2) of the Korean E-Commerce Act, and obtains the member's explicit consent (checkbox).
Article 2 — Consumer withdrawal right (statutory exception)
This Article applies only to consumers under the Korean E-Commerce Act (individual users purchasing for non-business purposes). Article 3 applies to business users.
1. Within 7 days of payment
- Paid features (credits) not used at all: full refund.
- Paid features (credits) partially used: only the remaining amount is refunded after deducting the portion already provided at its list price (Article 17 (2) 5 of the Korean E-Commerce Act — severable digital content whose provision has begun).
- Deduction = payment amount × max(credits used ÷ credits granted, days elapsed ÷ days in billing period)
- Example: $39/month (260 credits), 200 credits used by day 3, refund requested — deduction ratio = max(200/260, 3/30) ≈ 77% → refund ≈ $9.
2. After 7 days of payment
- No refund. Canceling a subscription only stops the next auto-renewal; you keep access until the end of the current billing period.
3. Yearly subscriptions
- Within 7 days of payment and unused: full refund.
- Otherwise, upon mid-term cancellation: months used are deducted at the monthly list price (the yearly discount is recouped), any credit usage exceeding the months used is additionally deducted, and the remaining balance is refunded.
Article 3 — Business users, organizations, and international payments: no refunds
- Specnote is a professional tool for the business purpose of software development and verification. Members who use the service for business purposes (professional activity, for-profit purposes, work for their organization, etc.) and payments made in the name of a company or organization do not qualify as consumers under the Korean E-Commerce Act, are not subject to the withdrawal right, and all such sales are final and non-refundable.
- For payments made outside the Republic of Korea (via Paddle), the no-refund principle of this policy applies; refunds may be made only where required by the buyer terms of Paddle (the Merchant of Record) or by mandatory local law.
Article 4 — Credits
- Subscription credits: granted each billing period and valid only within that period. Unused credits do not roll over and expire at the end of the period; expired credits are not refundable or compensable.
- Free credits (granted at sign-up or otherwise free of charge): not refundable as they are not paid purchases, and they expire 90 days after they are granted.
- Top-up credits: carry over without an expiry date, but are refundable only for the unused portion when a consumer withdraws within 7 days of payment (Article 2). No refunds otherwise.
- Credits are not cash equivalents and cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged.
Article 5 — Credit restoration (distinct from refunds)
- If a verification run fails to complete due to a system error on the Company's side, the credits deducted for that run are automatically restored.
- If a run completes normally, subjective dissatisfaction with the outcome (a failed test verdict, dissatisfaction with AI-generated output, etc.) is not grounds for credit restoration or a refund. The service provides verification runs; it does not guarantee any particular result such as a passing verdict.
Article 6 — Effect of a refund
- When a refund occurs (including card disputes and chargebacks), the credits granted by that payment are immediately clawed back up to the remaining balance, and the related subscription is terminated immediately.
- Repeated purchase-consume-refund requests from accounts with prior refunds may be declined.
Article 7 — Refund procedure
- Members request a refund by emailing support@specnote.io with the reason and order ID. (Subscription cancellation can be done directly at "My Page → Billing," separately from a refund request.)
- The Company reviews eligibility and responds within 3 business days of receipt.
- Upon approval, refunds are processed back to the original payment method (credit card). Card issuer processing typically takes 3-7 business days (international cards up to 30 days).
- If the Company delays a statutory refund without justifiable cause, late-payment interest under Article 18 of the Korean E-Commerce Act applies.
Article 8 — Refund-ineligible cases
- More than 7 days have passed since payment (Article 2.2).
- Business users, organizations, and international payments (Article 3).
- Credits already used and credits already expired (Article 4).
- Restriction or forced withdrawal due to a violation of the Terms.
- The member fraudulently received multiple free credits or discount benefits through improper means.
- Subjective dissatisfaction with AI-generated output or verification verdicts (excluding clear system errors — Article 5).
- A repeated purchase-consume-refund pattern is identified (Article 6.2).
Article 9 — Refunds due to the Company's fault
- When the Company's fault makes the service unavailable (e.g., an outage lasting 24+ hours), we refund the charge for the affected period or compensate with service time or credits of equivalent value.
- If the service differs from its advertised description or is performed differently from the contract, members may withdraw within 3 months of supply or within 30 days of becoming aware of the fact (Article 17 (3) of the Korean E-Commerce Act).
Article 10 — Dispute resolution (Korea)
- Korea Consumer Agency (1372 / kca.go.kr)
- Electronic Transaction Mediation Committee (1661-5714 / ecmc.or.kr)
- Operator: Dannect, Inc. (CEO Wonyoung Choi)
- Business registration number: 425-87-03610
- Contact: support@specnote.io
